Darakshan Farber has been a software architect, inventor, community organizer, and student of spiritual traditions whose work bridges technology, creativity, and cultural experimentation. Earlier in his career—when he was known professionally as David A. Farber—he contributed to major software systems including Kodak’s Color Management System and the IBM AIX operating system, and later founded Sandpiper Networks, an early pioneer in content-delivery networks that became part of Digital Island.
Since the early 2000s his work has focused increasingly on community, artistic, and spiritual initiatives. In 2004 he started publicly using the spiritual name Darakshan, a name given to him decades earlier within the Sufi tradition. He has organized the Burning Man community responsible for the long-running “Talk to God” project, and served as chair of the Seven Pillars House of Wisdom, producing a “Transformance” and editing two volumes. He cureently serves on the boards of Suluk Publishing and the Ojai Storytelling Festival, and advises a startup working on AI alignment.
This website is intended to evolve into a collaborative project, so that other qualified contributors can add, revise, and illustrate seedpods and their links.
At this time, their are no other human collaborators.
These seedpods were developed in conversations with Claude (Anthropic). The ideas, judgments, and editorial voice are human. Claude contributed research, drafting, reflection, and the occasional useful phrase. This collaboration is itself an instance of the themes explored in several seedpods. Caveat Lector
